Experience the extremes of Patagonian Glaciers to the Atacama Desert on this tour through Argentina and Chile. Deserts and Glaciers was one of Latitude 33’s first cruise tours and became a staple tour each year; 2019 being the last one. We are excited to re-introduce this tour for 2023.
In April 2023, we invite you to see some of the wildest yet most beautiful regions of South America. Our tour begins in Buenos Aires with 3 nights. This gives you plenty of time to explore the beautiful city dubbed the "Paris of South America", we have also included a city tour, dinner and tango show during your stay to get a true feel for the city.
After our time in Buenos Aires we fly to Ushuaia, the "city at the end of the world” staying 2 nights at the magnificent Arakur Ushuaia Resort & Spa. On the 9th of April we board the M/V Ventus Australis and follow in the footsteps of Magellan, Drake and Darwin through the Chilean Fjords. The vessel calls on fabled spots like Cape Horn and Wulaia Bay before cruising down the Beagle Channel. Continuing through the maze of islands, we’ll visit a number of glaciers; frozen giants that guard the southern flank of the Fuegian Archipelago before entering the legendary Strait of Magellan and onto Punta Arenas.
On disembarking in Punta Arenas, we will be met and transferred to the all-inclusive explora Patagonia, located within the heart of Torres del Paine National Park. Cut off from the world by the great natural barriers of mountains & ice fields. The area is a nature lovers paradise with numerous activities available such as hiking, horseback riding and tours by vehicle exploring the surrounding flora and fauna. Or you might just want to lose yourself for a day admiring the surrounds & sounds.
We continue our journey to Santiago exploring wonderful wineries and restaurants and then finally, San Pedro de Atacama where we will spend 5 nights at the all-inclusive explora de Atacama, a place so vast that time and direction seem to have no meaning. The oasis in the desert will surprise you with landscapes that seem to be taken from other worlds, offering endless exploration prospects.
