Destination: A safari in Uganda offers travellers the opportunity to discover a land of pristine natural beauty. Described as “the Pearl of Africa” by Winston Churchill, Uganda offers some of Africa’s finest geographical and natural beauty, making it a tourist haven. Home to the greatest concentration of primates on the planet (including half the world’s mountain gorilla population), the source of the mighty River Nile and magnificent all year snowcapped peaks on Rwenzori Mountain, Uganda is an adventure enthusiasts’ paradise. Bird-watchers and big 5 animal lovers alike agree, this country is a true African gem waiting to be discovered.

Expect: Rhino tracking (Zziwa), game drive/safari (Murchison), boat trip/safari (Murchison), and top of the falls’ experience, chimpanzee tracking (Kibale Forest), game drive/safari (Queen), boat trip – Kazinga Channel, game viewing (Ishasha), gorilla trekking (Bwindi).

Bragging Right: Being at the top of Murchison Falls, close encounter with chimps, gorillas firsthand in their natural habitat, being in and touring Uganda – the Pearl of Africa.

This meander is a perfect illustration of South Africa as a world in one country. Travel the grasslands of the gold-rich Highveld to the haunting barrenness of the Great Karoo; trundle through the spectacular mountain ranges and scenic winelands of the Cape. Journey’s end is Cape Town, the Mother City of South Africa, cradled by the imposing bulk of Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak and Lion’s Head. Highlights of the north- and southbound routes include a visit to the historic village of Matjiesfontein, an authentically preserved Victorian Village founded as a refreshment stop in 1890, which also boasts an impressive museum on the platform. Another stop is made in Kimberley to visit the Diamond Mine Museum and the world’s largest man-made excavation, the Big Hole.
